Swinging in the Park

The weather today was so beautiful that we decided to stop by a local
park to enjoy the playground. You've come to love the swings and get
upset when it's time to go.

You And Your Books

So we were out running errands this afternoon and things were a little
too quiet in the backseat. When Mommy snuck a peek what else did she
see but you reading a short story. We decided that we should pull into
the bookstore to get you more books.

Update: 11 months

Dear Lily,

Today you turn 11 months old. One day last week Daddy was playing with you after you woke up one morning. He looked at me and said that there was something different about you. He was right, you all of the sudden look much more like a kid and less like a baby. You spend less time crawling and more time cruising along furniture now. You can't take any steps by yourself yet but you are an expert at pulling up to a standing position. You are not saying any true words yet but you are much more imitative of speech now. Sometimes when I say "Mama" or "Dada" you will imitate it back. You understand everything.

I am amazed at your ability to figure out how your toys work. You know how to activate any toy and push buttons to turn something on. You love to play with my alarm clock in the morning. You know which button turns the music on and which button turns it off.

You are still not quite sleeping through the night. You fall asleep so well right at 7:00 but you always wake up around 3:00 to 5:00am. I still have to feed you to make you go back to sleep. I'm hoping that routine will end soon. You have made a lot of progress towards eating solid foods. One day it just clicked and now you will eat pretty much anything. You enjoy feeding yourself finger foods but definitely don't like touching anything wet or slimy. You like to play with water and wash your hands. We started a Mommy and baby swim class. I think the pool is a little overwhelming for you but you seem to like it more each week.

The snow has melted and spring is just around the corner. We are very much ready to get outside and show you there is a world outside of the house. One more month and you will be one!

A Day at the Playground

After a very long winter, the sun decided to come out today to say hello. We enjoyed the first taste of warmer weather by going to the playground. You had a blast. You LOVED the swing. In fact when it was time to go you started to cry and pointed to the swing. We went down slides and played on the seesaw, but the swing was by far your favorite. When you were standing by the slide you bent down and picked up some mulch from the ground. You never put anything in your mouth so Mommy assumed you would just touch the mulch. You should never assume anything because before I knew it you had a mouth full of dirt. We got it all out and all was okay. We had a great day. I'm looking forward to the many future trips to the playground that are ahead of us! Here are some pictures:

Play Group at Our House

A few weeks ago we hosted a play group at our house. It was the first time 5 other babies would be playing with all of your toys. We weren't sure how you would handle the situation. Turns out that you loved all the activity. You were a champ at sharing. You mostly liked standing at this toy and taking blocks in and out of it. At the end of the day Mommy and Daddy were exhausted.

Since books are your most favorite thing in the world. I decided to
take you to the library today. I think you are in heaven and I'm not
sure you will want to leave. You think these letter magnets are super
cool too.
