Rio Update: 13 Months

Dear Rio,

You turned 13 months old and I'm a little late writing about the event.  Summer has arrived in Seattle and the days have been packed with fun.  You look more and more like a kid every day and less like a baby. You are so close to walking.  You can take several steps (does that count?) but you are not completely walking yet.  You have taught yourself to walk on your knees.  You have lost interest in crawling, walking frustrates you, so you walk on your knees all over the house.  You haven't started saying any new words this month.  We hear a lot of "go go go."  You babble frequently but generally with the "g" sound.  You understand everything and point to show us what you want.  

It took a few weeks but you finally decided you like cows milk.  You prefer milk out of a bottle and not so much out of a sippy cup, although you love water out of a sippy cup.  You have become quite attached to your binky.  Anytime you see one laying around you must retrieve it to put in your mouth.  You also LOVE your blanket.  On several occasions your blanket has put you at ease when you were particularly upset.  You finally sleep through the night but you are up and ready to go by 5:00 or 5:30am.  We have an enormous raspberry bush in the backyard and you have been eating your weight in raspberries every single day.  You love all fruit and never seem to get enough of it.  You're a funny eater.  Some nights you will devour everything we are eating and other nights you are so offended that we even offer you any food. 

You love books and are starting to play more with your toys.  You enjoy anything related to the kitchen.  You are happy when I give you a real spoon and pot to play with.  You have sense of humor and love to make Lily laugh.  Here you are chillin' with daddy:
